The Problem with Bolt Circles

Laying out a perfect bolt circle by hand requires math, dividers, and patience. One mistake and the holes don't line up. A printed template eliminates the guesswork.

Using a PunchMapPro Flange Template

Print the template at 100% scale. Center it on your workpiece using the center crosshair. Tape or clamp it down. Center punch through each bolt hole mark into the metal below.

Drill Pilot Holes First

Always start with a small pilot drill (1/8" or 3mm). This establishes the center accurately. Then step up to your final hole size. Use cutting fluid for clean holes.

Verify Your Layout

Before drilling to final size, check your bolt pattern with the actual bolts or studs. If a pilot hole is slightly off, you can correct it with a step drill or reamer.
