Why Use a Tube Stencil?

Freehand cutting tubes for miter joints wastes material and time. A printed stencil wraps around the tube and gives you an exact cut line — no expensive tube notcher needed.

Print at True Scale

Download your miter stencil from PunchMapPro. Print at 100% scale. Verify with the calibration square. The stencil width should exactly equal half the circumference of your tube.

Wrap and Mark

Cut out the stencil along the cut line. Wrap it around your tube, aligning the straight edge with the tube end. Tape it in place. Trace the curved cut line with a paint marker or soapstone.

Cut with Confidence

Use a bandsaw, chop saw, or angle grinder with a cutting disc. Follow the marked line carefully. The fit should be tight enough for welding with minimal gap.

Tack and Weld

With clean miter cuts, tack the joint at 4 points (12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock positions). Verify alignment, then complete the weld. A good stencil cut means less grinding and cleaner welds.
